Living in Meridian

Meridian is the fastest-growing city in Idaho, and it shows in the best and the most frustrating ways. You get newer homes, wide streets, well-kept parks and nearly every errand within ten minutes. You also get traffic on Eagle Road and neighborhoods that are still filling in.

For most relocating families, Meridian is the easiest landing spot in the Treasure Valley. It's where I live and work, and it's the city I get asked about most.

Who Meridian is best for

Families who want newer homes, good schools and convenience.

If you want mature trees, walkable downtown character and quiet older streets, Meridian may feel too new for you. Look at Boise's North End or Eagle's established pockets instead.

Neighborhoods to know

• Paramount — Large master-planned community with pools, parks and West Ada schools inside the neighborhood.
• Bridgetower — Established, mature landscaping, strong amenities and a wide price range.
• Downtown Meridian — Older homes, walkable to restaurants and the Village-adjacent core.
• South Meridian — Newest construction, more land, longer commute north.

Schools

Served by the West Ada School District — Idaho's largest district, with several highly rated elementary and high schools including Rocky Mountain and Owyhee High.
